15 Years on: 25 Eagles Greatest Players - No. 12

Ross Walker

A team mate of mine at Murrayfield Juniors Raccoons and Rapiers, I was happy to see Ross join the Eagles. He was still as nuts as he was at junior, but now with the added bonus of being able to legally buy beers.

There are several stories about Ross that confirm his legendary status off the ice (most of which include partial or full nudity), but I also remember what made him great on it. A left handed shooter, Ross was naturally a center but could cover all positions barring net. He liked to play a physical style, bang a lot of bodies and wind people up in the process - but equally had the flair to take people on and the shot to finish it off. His physicality was never more evident than in the first Celtic Cup when he could only be referred to as a wrecking ball, however after the game was over his mission became to show the Cardiff team a good time. That was Ross of the Eagles, he played hard and partied hard.
